Program Profiles and Visions > Lung Cancer Program Vision
At the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, we are dedicated to the process of discovery, advancing medical knowledge, and providing compassionate, state-of-the-art cancer care to our patients. We are bringing our faculty expertise and the sophisticated resources of our academic medical center to bear on the prevention, detection, treatment, and study of one of the most formidable and serious challenges in the field of cancer today—lung cancer. We are at a pivotal point in raising the stature of the Lung Cancer Program both locally and nationally. The shared vision of our clinicians is to elevate our basic science program, foster interdisciplinary research and education, and provide access to care and options that only an academic medical center can offer. To fulfill this ambitious vision, we aspire to fund and endow people and research that will best position us to: establish a clinical program based on the central theme of access, providing patients with a comprehensive, individualized approach to care; inform our patients about clinical studies; offer services that evaluate and treat the social, psychological, emotional, physical, functional, and practical aspects of cancer; focus on the more novel therapeutic benefits of chemotherapy and molecular targeted agents in the treatment of sarcomas; explore research areas that complement our clinical strengths and will foster a comprehensive bench-to- bedside approach in finding answers; and create a lung cancer database, which will ensure that patients are properly tracked to evaluate the success rate of novel approaches. Private support will be a catalyst for our transformation. Donors can help us expand our efforts and make our ambitious vision a reality. We are seeking answers to provide hope for the future. Private funding will ensure that the great potential of research and patient care is made possible now. Contact: |
